Introducing Rev. Aqueelah Ligonde, Our New GenOn Ministries Board Member

Rev. Aqueelah S. Ligonde is an enthusiastic speaker, preacher and leader.  She has dedicated her life to uplifting the lost throughout the world by sharing the Gospel in new and fresh ways. Her passion is to minister to and encourage young people in general, with the center of her attention directed toward the spiritual, physical, mental, and social health of young girls, women and ultimately the family.


Aqueelah’s contributions as a servant define the demand for her gift as a workshop leader and host for conferences, seminars, retreats, camps, concerts, and worship events.  Her work with programs and organizations such as GenOn Ministries, DeVos Urban Leadership Initiative, Holmes Presbyterian Camp and Retreat Center (on which she serves on the Board of Directors), and YouthWorks further enlighten others in regards to the gift that God has placed on her life to be able to effectively serve and reach today’s youth. She is also a volunteer fitness instructor for SHAPE UP NYC, which strives to promote health, wellness, and fitness throughout the City of New York.
 In May of 2015 she was named as one of the Top Women in Business by the Queens Courier.Aqueelah, a native of Dayton, Ohio, holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communication Studies from the College of Wooster and a Master of Divinity from McCormick Theological Seminary in Chicago, Illinois. 

Aqueelah is presently serving in three areas of work and ministry. She is a staff consultant with Ministry Architects, the Site Coordinator for the Young Adult Volunteer Program of New York City (PCUSA), and Field Staff for Racial Ethnic Young Women (PCUSA). She previously served for over a decade as the Associate Pastor of Youth and Families at the First Presbyterian Church in Jamaica.
