Introducing Kevin Johnson, Our New Board Member

Posted by Tracey Daniels at

It is our honor to share that Rev. Dr. Kevin Johnson has accepted a call to serve on the GenOn Ministries Board of Directors. Kevin serves as Director, Children’s Ministries for Congregational Vitality and Intentional Discipleship and Discipleship Ministries for the United Methodist Church. Kevin’s hero Fred Rogers suggests that we, “listen to the children, learn about them, learn from them. Think of the children first.” This quote defines Rev. Kev’s approach to ministry, as well as his passion for intergenerational worship and communication. Kevin, an ordained elder of the Kentucky Annual Conference, has more than 20 years of ministry...

Two Questions: Brittany Sky

Brittany SkyProject DirectorChristian Parenting Project       In each edition of IG Mix, we ask someone the same two questions about intergenerational ministry: “What keeps you up at night?” and “What gets you up in the morning?” What keeps you up at night? As a mom with a young child, I often spiral at night about the ways I want to support Rowan as he grows. A Christmas Pageant for All Generations

Posted by Liz Perraud at

As the pageant opens, a young child asks two adults, “Why is this such a season of wonder and excitement?” One of the adults responds, “Because of the coming of God’s love at Christmas; because of the birth of God’s son; because of how people received Jesus Christ into their lives.” And then instead of being told the story of Christ’s birth, the adults say they’ll show the story.

$27,000 End-of-Year Giving Match!

A congregation in Hedgesville, West Virginia launched Youth Club (what we now call LOGOS) in the mid-80s. It thrived for 20 years. Now, about 15 years later, those young people who grew up attending the ministry wanted to revive it for their own children and for the new neighborhoods around the church. They called GenOn to help them restart. And we gladly did with training, resources, and encouragement. Nikki, one of the co-directors, shared recently, “Youth Club is going so well! We have so much support and help from the church and the parents. I always ask if anyone wants...
