The Capacity to Pass on the Faith

Posted by Liz Perraud at

What does it take to pass on the faith to the next generation? The professional church educator? Parents? Grandparents? The faith community? Dave Csinos (of Faith Forward) suggests that the key lies in the stories of faith that we tell. And we all have a story, don't we? Read about it here in his blog post, "We Already Have All that We Need."  How does your faith community encourage all to tell their faith story? Do you encourage young people to tell theirs? With intergenerational ministry, we believe the "passing" goes both ways. How well do we provide time and...

Introducing our new Communications Coordinator

GenOn Ministries welcomes our new Communications Coordinator, Jennifer Hoggan! In addition to knowledge of communications, she comes with experience in children and youth ministry including a Certificate in Youth and Theology from the Princeton Institute of Youth Ministry. She has been involved with LOGOS in three churches where her husband has served as pastor, becoming a “whole-hearted supporter of its transformative power in individual lives as well as the life of a church.” Jennifer lives in Southern California with her husband and their three children, as well as two dogs and a ridiculous amount of art supplies.

In the car, we chat about their day at school (kindergarten and first grade) -- what they're reading and what they played at recess. We also talk about the night's theme and menu for LOGOS (I'm in charge of the meals!). I don't see them during LOGOS. So...

Youth Ministry: All about the relationships

"What I Wish I Knew When I Started Youth Ministry" is from guest blogger Betsy Hanzelin on Jan Edmiston's Church for Starving Artists blog. You'll find great wisdom whether you've just started or are more than a few years in. Most of the advice applies not only to youth ministry but to those working with children too.  The core of what Betsy offers is precisely what we've been saying for more than 50 years...relationships matter. You'll find her idea that as the lead ministry person, your relationship with your students should be at the bottom of the list both challenging and...
