LIFT Year 5 Summer

3 units available.

Unit 1: We Walk by Faith
4 sessions. Those who have been a part of a worship community have heard the word faith more times than they can count. We want to have faith but what is that really? During this unit, participants explore the many ways faith is lived out. Participants share faith stories through words and movements, acknowledging those who came before them and inspired their lives to be lived out in faith. Sessions:
  1. What Is Belief? (Acts 2:42-47)
  2. Live by Faith (2 Corinthians 5:6-10, 14-17)
  3. The Way of Faith (1 Timothy 6:11b-12a)
  4. People of Faith (Ephesians 1:15-19)
Unit 2: Compassion
4 sessions. The dictionary defines compassion as “sympathetic pity and concern for the sufferings or misfortunes of others.” In this unit, participants look at the many ways Jesus showed compassion and how we are called to do the same, moving from the pity side of “poor me” to the action side of loving and caring for the people God puts in our path. Sessions:
  1. Come to Me (Matthew 11:28-30)
  2. A Cup of Cold Water (Matthew 10:40-42)
  3. The One Who Comforts Us (2 Corinthians 1:3-4)
  4. Having Compassion (Matthew 9:35-38)
Unit 3: Trust in the Lord
4 sessions. Many times, we read over familiar stories with the lens of knowing what is going to happen and skipping forward. During this unit, you will spend time looking at the little pieces of familiar stories from Daniel that you might have missed. Each story ties together to focus on the fact that God is always near to those who draw near to God. Sessions:
  1. Daniel Obeys God (Daniel 1:3-21)
  2. Fiery Furnace (Daniel 3:8-30)
  3. Daniel in the Lion’s Den (Daniel 6:8-24)
  4. Humble Yourself (James 4:5-10)
