Faith formation for two or more generations together
Posted by Liz Perraud at
Liz PerraudExecutive DirectorGenOn Ministries GenOn defines intergenerational ministry as nurturing Christ-centered community by bringing together two or more generations in planned and purposeful settings, where all are mutually invested. We identify four ministry areas impacted by intergenerational community: worship, study, service, and fellowship. Using our free Snapshot tool with a team, you can evaluate and discuss the four ministry areas, choosing one to start being more intentionally intergenerational. Nurturing relationships through LIFT at Saints Mary & Joseph Parish
Posted by Liz Perraud at
Saints Mary & Joseph Parish in Salem, New Hampshire is launching their second year of intergenerational faith formation opportunities— called LIFT Mini Sessions, using GenOn’s LIFT (Living in Faith Together). Most participants are families with children, though LIFT invites the whole parish to come together. Director of Faith Formation Susan Levesque says they hope it connects people together in fostering a oneness in their parish by nurturing relationships. LIFT begins...

What keeps you up at night?I worry about what Christian Smith and his colleagues call Moralistic Therapeutic Deism and how prevalent it is in both young people and adults. I’m concerned that this has happened in part because our teaching about faith is too often more centered on how we should behave than on the grace of God. Sanctification is important, of course, but the good news has been watered down and is...

GenOn Ministries is doing a new thing! With great joy, we announce the hiring of Brittany Sky as the Project Director for our upcoming Christian Parenting and Caregiving Project. She is a writer, creator, and researcher who loves kids and the adults who care for them. Brittany is the author of Raising Good People, the Celebrate Wonder Bible Storybook, and the Bible Basics Storybook, and co-author of the Deep Blue Bible Storybook, and countless curricula. GenOn’s project, which Brittany will direct, seeks to build a continuous faith forming environment from infancy through young adolescence that is centered in the family...
