What is God's World in Community?
When do we use it?

I love the simplicity of this resource. Each session in God’s World in Community allows for flexibility, is designed to give voice to all ages, takes less than an hour, and can easily be done in your own home. This provides a wonderful opportunity to host family, neighbors, and friends in a setting  where you can strengthen and build trusting, caring relationships. This resource in digital format allows flexibility and creativity in settings where people meet. Three easy steps make each session doable for all ages to talk about relevant topics in our daily lives: Read, Respond, Pray. How much easier can it get? I’m already planning to talk with parents, grandparents, and others about this resource and envisioning how to begin using God’s World in Community in our church and in our homes!Â

Don't just read about it, get on and do something about it! God's World in Community engages all ages in coming together to explore God's word and put it into action. I love the flexibility that offers options for households, single-dwellers, and InterGen church groups to learn with and from each other through discussion and adaptable activities. Holy hikes, chalk sidewalk drawings, mandalas and music all have their place in taking the word on the page into the word in the world.

So often, faith communities desire to be more intergenerational, but repeatedly, the question is: “how?” And “how” can look different for each faith community.
What I love about God’s World in Community from GenOn Ministries is that it offers up a simple but flexible world of possibilities to engage intentionally any community in intergenerational faith formation. Thematic units like Creation Care, Gifts of the Spirit, and many other relevant topics help faith communities imagine how they can engage all ages in transformative, relationship-building, faith-sharing experiences -- centered in times of prayer, scripture reading, and various creative responses that anyone can facilitate and do.
What I love most is that this curriculum is so adaptable that it could be used for Sunday worship, but also in small groups, at the park, intergenerational vacation Bible School, during camp, in the home, and much more. These units are so affordable! And each unit is only 7-9 sessions, offering a great a short-term experience—an introduction to intergenerational ministry, to help communities experiment and adapt as they navigate intentional steps toward becoming more intergenerational.
How are churches using it?Â
“We are using Tell Your Story one Sunday a month as part of an after-worship luncheon.”
“It is good to get people to think about the scriptures and the questions provided. This helps open up different conversations with our members.”Â
“We used Creation Care for intergenerational Summer Sunday School. We had a hands-on, eco-friendly craft each week so people could work together.”
