Christian Children's Author
In each edition of IG Mix, we ask someone in ministry the same two questions:
What keeps you up at night?
Since I just completed the final edits for Love Letters from God: 52 Gentle Devotions for Young Hearts, what keeps me up at night is wondering if the words I wrote truly say the things I wanted to convey. Writing for children, families and children's ministry leaders is a huge privilege, and when I'm writing about something as pivotal as God and faith, it's also a huge responsibility. Many devotionals for children seem to demand, or dictate, or present God as someone to please. I really wanted this book to contain 'gentle' devotions that invite the reader to know God as their creator who is already pleased just by who they are, and not by anything they need to do. I truly hope that my words in this devotional will cause the reader to fall in love with the God of love and hope who I know. (Love Letters from God: 52 Gentle Devotions for Young Hearts releases in November 2026.)
What gets you up in the morning?
Since I do a lot of editing for other children's writers, many of whom are also writing faith-based works, I usually wake up with those on my mind. I sit in a lovely blue chair in my front window, with my cup of English Breakfast tea, admiring the tulips I planted in the fall (which was, in itself, an act of faith) and I begin my day by praying that the words I'll help other writers with will have a positive impact in the world.
Glenys Nellist was born and raised in a little village in northern England. The author of multiple award-winning children’s books, including the bestselling ‘Twas the Evening of Christmas, The Wonder That is You, and five popular series: Love Letters from God, Snuggle Time, ‘Twas, Bedtime Blessings and Little Mole, her writing reflects a deep passion for helping children discover joy and hope in the world.
