On Saturday, August 9, I had the privilege of representing GenOn Ministries at the Conference on African-American Ministries (PCUSA). More than 100 delegates from across southeastern North Carolina gathered for a meaningful day centered on encouragement, equipping, and empowerment.
This year’s theme—“New Generation, Same Invitation”—set the tone for the gathering, highlighting the importance of churches embracing a more intergenerational approach to ministry. It was inspiring to see leaders affirm the value of all generations learning, growing, and serving together.
The day began with a warm breakfast and rich fellowship, followed by a spirit-filled worship service that grounded everyone in God’s presence. Participants then moved into workshops, where adults were introduced to GenOn Ministries and LIFT (Living in Faith Together). We explored together why intergenerational ministry is not just a trend but truly the future of the church. Several attendees expressed interest in learning more about our resources, and we look forward to continuing those conversations in the weeks ahead.
The conference concluded with powerful music from the conference choir, thoughtful remarks from presbytery leaders, and a final meal shared in community. It was a day that both celebrated tradition and cast a hopeful vision for the future—one where every generation has a place at the table.
