Jesus compares the Spirit to the wind in John 3:8. People cannot see where the wind comes from or where it is going, but they know it is there because they hear it and feel it. Faith often begins in that same ordinary space: in kitchens, classrooms, car rides, conversations, and quiet decisions where everything cannot be seen clearly, yet God is still trusted to be present and moving.

Christina Rossetti’s poem "Who Has Seen the Wind?" offers a similar picture. No one can see the wind itself, but its effects can be seen. Leaves move. Trees bend. Something invisible becomes real through what it does.

Who has seen the wind?
Neither I nor you:
But when the leaves hang trembling,
The wind is passing through.

Who has seen the wind?
Neither you nor I:
But when the trees bow down their heads,
The wind is passing by.

The Holy Spirit works in a similar way. The Spirit may not be visible in a way people can point to and say, “There it is,” but the Spirit’s movement can be trusted and noticed in daily life. Galatians 5:22–23 gives the clues: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. These fruits often grow through simple, everyday acts of faith: answering with gentleness, waiting with patience, showing kindness, keeping a promise, or choosing peace when stress rises. Trust is not passive; it becomes visible as faith is practiced in ordinary moments.

Faith in Ordinary Moments

Trust might look like choosing patience when life feels rushed, offering kindness when it would be easier to ignore someone, or finding peace in a moment that should feel overwhelming. These choices may seem small, but they are places where faith becomes real. Faith is not only expressed in big declarations or major turning points. It is also lived in the ordinary moments when someone takes the next faithful step without knowing exactly what will happen next.

The Spirit’s presence often shows up quietly through ordinary lives and ordinary choices. Each sign of love, peace, patience, kindness, or faithfulness becomes an invitation to trust God more deeply right where life is happening.

So today, the invitation is simply to pay attention and trust. Where is faith being practiced in an ordinary moment? Where are love, joy, peace, or patience beginning to move? Where might God be asking for trust without showing the whole picture? Like the wind, the Spirit may be unseen, but the Spirit’s presence can still be felt, followed, and trusted in the everyday places where faith takes root.
