Unit 1: Elijah
4 sessions. Explore the dramatic stories of the prophet Elijah in a troubled time for God’s people. The Israelites are led further away from God by Ahab. During their suffering, God sent Elijah to remind people of God’s will and God’s teachings. God sent Elijah to safe places to receive food, water, and safety. Elijah then encounters the true God in a wilderness event. Sessions:

  1. Elijah and the Ravens (1 Kings 16:29-30, 17:1-7)
  2. Elijah and the Widow (1 Kings 17:8-16)
  3. Elijah and the True God (1 Kings 18:1, 17-46)
  4. God in the Silence (1 Kings 19:1-16)
    Unit 2: God's Way
    4 sessions. Focuses on four incidents in the life of Jesus using stories within stories. Jesus exposes differences between God’s Way of extraordinary compassion and Jesus’ ease at testing the Jewish laws that were hinderances to human compassion. In Luke 10, the legal expert confronts Jesus with the details of Jewish law that conflict with social and religious norms. In Luke 8, Jesus meets, Jairus is an important religious man who had an emergency request of Jesus. Two sessions for each story, each with their own focus and activities. Sessions:
    1. Who Is My Neighbor? (Luke 10:25-37)
    2. Being a Neighborly Neighbor (Luke 10:25-37)
    3. Who Touched Me? (Luke 8:42-44, 49-56)
    4. Whom Do You Touch? (Luke 8:42-44, 49-56)
