God's World in Community: Worship Words

Worship is the religious practice in which we acknowledge God’s presence and humble ourselves before God through adoration and respect. The components of worship included in God's World in Community: Worship Words are praising, praying, singing, thanksgiving, preaching, offering, and serving. Understanding and practicing these elements of worship helps us to better engage in worship and experience worship more fully. As we explore the different parts of worship found throughout Scripture, we will examine specific Scripture passages that will help us better understand the value of each component and its impact on our worship of God.

This flexible simple resource for intergenerational gatherings uses designated Scripture passages to help us highlight each part of worship. The sessions can stand alone or be studied as a unit. All Scripture is from the CEB Bible.

  • Praising (Isaiah 25:1)
  • Praying (Mark1:35)
  • Singing (Psalm 100:1-2)
  • Thanksgiving (1 Chronicles 16:34)
  • Preaching (Isaiah 40:6)
  • Offering (Matthew 5:15-16)
  • Serving (Hebrews 13:16)

Each of the seven sessions features a scripture reading, options for a related activity, wonder together prompts for conversation, and a prayer.

For use in small or large groups in person, online or at home, for all ages. Sample here.
