One Great Idea: Yoga with Our Youth
Posted by Tracey Daniels at
Rachael TisdaleArk and Dove Presbyterian ChurchOdenton, MD Winter seems to be a tough season for so many of us. The sun only makes brief appearances, and we start to feel confined inside. So, our Recreation Coordinator at LOGOS came up with a wonderful idea to help renew our body and our mind – Yoga Night! We push aside all the tables, stack chairs, dim the lights, and throw our shoes in pile. Normally our recreation groups are based on grade level, but Yoga Night is special. From preschool kids to adults, we fit as many people into one room as...
When Intergenerational Community Takes Root and Grows

Liz PerraudExecutive DirectorGenOn Ministries In “A Vision of an Intergenerational Church” chapter from Generations Together, John Roberto writes about 14 benefits and blessings for living as an intentional intergenerational community. I can say that I have experienced all of them in my own church, and I’m sure many of you would say the same thing. Here are some snapshots from Christ Memorial Presbyterian Church in Columbia, Maryland: Intergenerational experiences affirm each person’s value in the total community (regardless of age), teaching younger generations to value the older generations and the older the younger generations: The best high school...

One Great Idea: Cookie Night
Posted by Tracey Daniels at
Christina LandenbergerDirector of Faith Formation & Youth MinistryFirst Presbyterian Church of Grand Island, Nebraska The Grand Island Area Habitat for Humanity holds an annual fundraiser, the Christmas Cookie Walk, the first week of December. Donated cookies are sold by the pound to raise funds for the organization, which has built 96 homes in our community. This year they had more than 14,000 cookies and sold out in less than two hours! On the Wednesday before the Cookie Walk, church members and LOGOS families are asked to bring homemade sugar cookies ready for decorating. Our LOGOS Recreation and Worship Arts times...
All Aboard for Transformation!

Liz PerraudExecutive DirectorGenOn Ministries A caterpillar changing into a beautiful butterfly is an oft-used image for transformation. From crawling to flying. From plain to beautiful. From unnoticed to wow! And though it’s a powerful illustration, perhaps we need something else to describe a congregation transitioning from multigenerational to intergenerational. That systemic change from multiple generations in the same building to those generations in relationship, is much less of an overnight “eureka”! Could a moving train describe a church traveling from “here” to a planned and purposeful “there”— transforming to a new way of being the church, growing disciples,...

You Can Impact Life-Lasting Faith Formation
Posted by Liz Perraud at
Your donation to GenOn Ministries makes stories of life-lasting faith formation possible. Will you give in response to what you’ve experienced, or in hope for the future? Or both? Laura Sambito grew up in LOGOS at Highlands United Presbyterian Church in Jacksonville, Florida. Her memories are about relationships and being surrounded by love. Laura fondly recalls her LOGOS middle school Bible teacher who later became her biggest cheerleader as she began her work in the church. Laura is now the Director of Christian Education at this church that surrounded her with love. Laura’s family spans three generations in LOGOS. She...
