Two Questions: Karen Ware Jackson
Posted by Liz Perraud at
Karen Ware JacksonCo-pastor, First Presbyterian ChurchGreenville, NC In each edition of IG Mix, we ask a guest writer two questions about serving in ministry. What keeps you up at night? The concern of my heart right now is how to reach kids who we haven't been able to reach with online church. With our youngest children still not eligible for the vaccine, it might be quite some time before children and families are comfortable in large indoor groups, and some may never come back to worship or educational programs in the same ways. And this isn't just...

Planning for Fall Faith Formation? 5 Great Reasons to Look at GenOn's Faith for Life Bible Study Curriculum

GenOn Ministries’ believes that Bible study curriculum for young people is most effective in growing Christ-centered disciples when it… …is rooted in one or more Biblical passages. Faith for Life is. …provides opportunities for young people to express their faith through decision-making, relationships, service to others, worship, and personal devotional time. Faith for Life provides these opportunities. …reflects a keen awareness of varied faith formation settings. Faith for Life is written by Christian education leaders from various Christian denominations in a wide variety of settings. …is flexible, working in single or multi-graded groups, in a variety of timeframes and calendars,...

One Great Idea: LOGOS Finale
Posted by Tracey Daniels at
Lynn Nuzzo Director of Children’s Ministry First Presbyterian Church of Wheaton, IL Every year our LOGOS program has a big celebration on the last evening of the year. The families and all the volunteers come together for this very special night. Everyone gathers in the Sanctuary to begin the celebration with a time of thanks and praise. Families sit together and watch a video presentation of our year together. Lots of fun pictures are shared and memories are made! After the video, the graduating 8th graders are given a special time of recognition. A slide show of the kids participating...

All Aboard for Transformation!
Posted by Liz Perraud at
Liz PerraudExecutive DirectorGenOn Ministries A caterpillar changing into a beautiful butterfly is an oft-used image for transformation. From crawling to flying. From plain to beautiful. From unnoticed to wow! And though it’s a powerful illustration, perhaps we need something else to describe a congregation transitioning from multigenerational to intergenerational. That systemic change from multiple generations in the same building to those generations in relationship, is much less of an overnight “eureka”! Could a moving train describe a church traveling from “here” to a planned and purposeful “there”— transforming to a new way of being the church, growing disciples,...
