My church had its first LIFT on Sunday, and it was fantastic (with around 60intergenerational faith formation participants)! It was pouring rain right about the time when everyone arrived for worship (fitting for the theme of the day). We had a baptism during worship, and after worship everyone was invited to our fellowship hall to explore the first Summer LIFT Water Story: A Big Boat. Each age group got a different colored ribbon, and the goal was for each table to create a rainbow -- the symbol of God's covenant with humanity after the flood. Then everyone enjoyed snack served family style; I read the Noah story (with Bibles and Noah's Ark picture stories on the tables to supplement); tables discussed questions; tables shared joys and concerns, and we sang "Wade in the Water;"and everyone made boats and tested them to see if they would float outside. We topped it all off with "Rise and Shine" outside. I also created take-home cards that included a mealtime prayer and a "justice work" activity for households to do at home. It was a great day with lots of energy!
