In each edition of IG Mix, we ask someone the same two questions about intergenerational ministry: “What keeps you up at night?” and “What gets you up in the morning?”

What keeps you up at night?
As a mom with a young child, I often spiral at night about the ways I want to support Rowan as he grows. Last night I was kept awake thinking through his overnight sleep troubles and how I can support his transition into a big kid bed. As a ministry leader, these experiences help me remember what other parents and caregivers are going through as they seek to parent their children with love, connection, and structure. It’s a lot! Churches have an important role to play in supporting and empowering families as each family member grows, transforms, and deepens in spiritual maturity. This mama needs a community of folks who can provide empathy, encouragement, and compassion (and maybe some babysitters!). So, each night my mind spirals through ways I need help and how I can help. #ennegram2

What gets you up in the morning?
Opportunities to listen deeply to, empathize with, and create resources that empower kids and the adults who love them (parents, grandparents, church leaders, teachers, etc.)! I just started as the Project Director for GenOn’s new Christian Parenting Project, and it is a new way I am getting to listen, empathize, and create! I don’t know if you can tell, but my exclamation points mean I am pumped! I cannot wait to see what we all learn together as we are moved by the Spirit to love and support our families and churches!
