Inside Out: The alien has landed

Posted by Liz Perraud at

My husband has a phrase for that moment when the childhood brain (in our family) flips to the next stage of life: "The alien has landed!" And now, after seeing "Inside Out" we've been given the gift of walking alongside the fictional Andersen family (Riley and her parents) to see how it all possibly happens. A little writers' license and a lot of creativity help explain the mix of emotions, the stability and instability of personality "islands," the importance of memories and especially interpersonal relationships. There's a lot packed into this fun and interesting cartoon that needs unpacking with your children!

Rev. Kimberly Ashby has written a wonderfully helpful discussion guide for parents (and grandparents!) to use after watching the movie. Check out her blog post on Hope4CE with her insights and also a link to the extensive guide (downloadable and free).
