Relationships within a church setting prove to be one of the most rewarding investments you can make to facilitate faith growth in your child’s life. Helping your children to engage with others in your church is easier in small to medium-sized churches. Parents need to be proactive in making sure this happens in your church. Be involved, take a leadership role, go with your child to church, encourage your child to make close friends within your church family.

Encountering LOGOS in West Virginia

When I went to the LOGOS Encounter at First Presbyterian Church in Charleston, West Virginia, in March, I didn’t know what to expect. ... My first impression was the commitment to and love of LOGOS among the people from First Presbyterian – which I saw as a representation of the love they have for the children, youth, and adults in their church. For them, LOGOS has been a way to develop and grow Christian relationships in their faith community – which is exactly the point of the program. They love what LOGOS has done in their church, and they wanted to make it even better through this training.

A small, Methodist church where my grandmother was a member was my first Christian community experience, if you don’t count my other grandmother’s small, Episcopal church where I was christened. I have little to no memory of it, but I do have a picture of what I assume is my Sunday school class, with all the children sitting on cardboard bricks and being taught by a man with a buzz cut, circa 1965. I was about three or four years old, and my eyes are focused squarely on the teacher.
